ABSTRACT

The relationship between technology and philosophy has not been deeply explored. In ‘Philosophy and Technology’, Dr. Danielle J. Williams of Washington University in St. Louis and Professor Gualtiero Piccinini of the University of Missouri—St. Louis ask some core philosophical questions about technology. They consider ideas, such as artifacts, functions, and goals, pertaining to technology as well as its relationships with science and with humans and non-humans (such as animals). They also discuss the ethical and policy implications of technology.
