ABSTRACT

The renewed Memento Mori exhibition of the Tragor Ignác Museum in Vác, Hungary, opened in 2016. It presents the late 18th-century funerary culture through painted coffins, funerary textiles and other sacred objects found in the crypt of the city's Dominican church. The attractiveness of the exhibit is enhanced by the three naturally mummified bodies put on display. Through its pedagogical programmes and guided tours, the museum aims to bring 18th-century views on life and death closer to today's people.
