ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides a short description of the basic differences in teacher education and the related socio-historical education foundations in China/Hong Kong and in Germany. It also provides a deeper analysis of the different socio-historical traditions. The book focuses on teacher standards and especially identifies the call and challenge of enhancing data literacy of Chinese teachers. It illustrates how education for sustainable development (ESD) can be implemented in different phases of teacher education and provide examples of structural support and progress achieved in Germany. The book provides a systematic outline of various types of university-school partnerships in teacher education in Germany. It describes the basic foundations of the vocational education and training (VET) teacher education in Germany. The book describes how German as a second language (GSL) is included in the pre-service and in-service teacher education.
