ABSTRACT
This chapter analyzes the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report of Potpourri steel plant and understands the information spectrum so as to propose a need for a comprehensive environmental information policy. Then the Environmental Impact Assessment study is with itemized portrayal of different natural segments, organic and financial inside a region of 10 km span around the proposed venture site of Mines Road, Halakundi Village, Bellary Taluk and District, Karnataka State according to the most recent rules of Ministry of Environment and Forest during the months of October 2008 to December 2008. The information spectrum is a subset of communication spectrum that deals with data. The researcher aims to identify the range of information, with the concepts of environmental information system and environmental informatics laid down to strengthen the proposed idea with the example of the EIA report of the steel plant in respect to information age today.
