ABSTRACT

Numerous revelations have emerged regarding the threat of neofascistic movement politics in America. The two primary developments include: the Republican attack on “critical race theory”, which seeks to impose an Orwellian surveillance regime in various states against American teachers; and new information on Donald Trump's attempted coup on January 6. News stories regarding these two political developments made it clearer than ever before that the Trump administration and his supporters in the Republican Party were committed to aspirational neofascistic politics. Trump's language drew on neofascistic and eliminationist style ideology that envisions his political “enemies” as a foundational threat to the nation that needs to be uprooted and destroyed. In this case, the eliminationist politics Trump calls for does not involve concentration camps and gas chambers but instead a youth and parental-coordinated Big Brother mass surveillance state that will eradicate freedom of critical thought, inquiry, and expression.
