ABSTRACT

This chapter prepares students to search for an ethical place at which they can work. There are quite a few considerations, beginning with getting as much background information as possible on the organization and its behavior analysts. Proper presentation at the interview is important, and appearing professional right from the start is necessary. Questions about the job come next, and these include the caseload for clients and for supervisees, support for clinical cases, continuing education opportunities, administrative time to train line therapists, philosophy of supervision, and the method of evaluating supervisees. Additional questions about ethics include “Is there an ethics committee?” “How often is ethics in-service training conducted?” and “What are internal procedures for reporting someone?” Finally, there are questions about the management of the company, such as whether any of them are BCBAs, how the company’s HR department deals with personnel issues, and the company’s policy on dual relationships.
