ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the attributes of a professional behavior analyst. These attributes include being truthful, obeying the law, being accountable for their actions, and practicing within a defined role and their scope of competence. In addition, they need to maintain their competence, be sensitive to the culture of their clients, and support diversity in the workplace. Behavior analysts should be sensitive to their own biases and personal problems and how these might affect their clients. BCBAs should not engage in harassment or coercive or exploitative behaviors, and they should avoid romantic and sexual relationships with clients and supervisees. Behavior analysts should respond quickly to requests for information from clients and stakeholders and report any critical information about investigations or arrests to the BACB.
