ABSTRACT

Black feminism is one theoretical framework that fully encompasses the complexity of black womanhood and the dynamic dimensions of black feminist legacies intellectual contributions. In a black feminist tradition, theories of black women should continue to build and affirm womanisms inside and outside of academia. Bringing a method like fabulation or imagination into readings of US enslavement critically remaps and represents black life. Black feminist sociologists conducting ethnographic methods lie at an important nexus in the academy. Black feminist sociology centers black womanhood by offering systems of worth to black women that exist and are engaged both in and outside the academy. The course for liberation from dominant sociology belongs with those who use knowledge as an avenue to improve black life. Embodying a black feminist healing praxis leaves space for individual growth while remaining in tune with other black women in holistic and medicinal ways.
