ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of armed conflict femicide globally, with particular attention to definitions, classification, and methodological issues for its measurement. It also provides some information on the extent of the phenomenon globally and in selected conflicts, discussing data gaps and challenges in obtaining accurate data on conflict-related gender-based killings, including within the framework of work currently carried out for the measurement of SDG indicator 16.1.2 on conflict-related deaths. Finally, it proposes a multidisciplinary approach to advance knowledge on this issue.
