ABSTRACT

Jeremy O. Harris is a queer African American playwright who has revitalized US theatre through his provocative plays on race and sexuality, his outspoken and media-savvy advocacy for the performing arts, and his behind-the-scenes philanthropy for theatre artists. Harris has become one of the most recognizable figures in US theatre, largely due to the sensational impact of Slave Play, his first produced play, which he wrote while a student in Yale University’s MFA Playwriting Program. His other plays include Daddy: A Melodrama (2019) and Black Exhibition (2019).
