ABSTRACT

Daaimah Mubashshir—a Black, queer, and Muslim playwright—was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Houston, Texas. Her plays are a queering and subversion of dominant narratives about Black, queer, and Muslim identities and their intersectionalities. Her writing includes The Immeasurable Want of Light, Room Enough (For Us All), Come with Me-Solve for X, Molasses and a Blue Coat, and The Zero Loop. She has been a MacDowell Fellow (2017), a Women’s Project Theater Lab Fellow (2020–2022), and was awarded the 2021 PlayCo Residency for Black Women Theatre Makers and the 2021 Helen Merrill Award for Playwriting.
