ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the role of technology in shaping the socio-cultural milieu surrounding parasport. We start by exploring the role of movement technology in the development of adapted physical activity. This is followed by an exploration of the concept of re-embodiment, a process that one goes through when a traumatic injury causes a permanent impairment. From here we explore the role of technocratic ideology in celebrating high performance hybrid bodies at the heart of parasport. The chapter closes with a discussion of the future of diverse bodies within parasport.
