ABSTRACT

After four years of dependence upon President Donald Trump to provide lucrative media content, many in the news media are asking: “How will legacy media respond to the post-Trump era?” This exploratory study utilizes a critical framework of the legacy media’s coverage of Joe Biden’s First Hundred Days as President to answer that question. It relies on the AllSides (2021) chart to determine the ideological bias of each outlet to investigate the ways in which they are reporting on Biden. The study concludes that the Democratic Party–leaning media in the U.S. continues to fawn over and excuse the actions of the Biden Administration while the Republican Party–leaning media seeks to find an effective narrative to attack the Biden Administration.
