ABSTRACT
Silesia Park in Chorzow is one of the largest urban parks in Poland. On average, 500-1000 citizens participated daily in park development, with up to 4000 people reporting for duty on a single day! Silesia Park is located in a heavily urbanized area-dense residential developments are located 0.2 to 0.5 kilometers away. Silesia Park is one of the largest contemporary parks in Poland, which stands out with its original recreational and entertainment program. The design of Silesia Park, as was the case for model gardens of that era, centered around a fusion of landscape and architectural style. The most important functional elements are located alongside thematic gardens which are clearly diversified in their compositional arrangement, constituting formal spaces with characteristic vegetation. Plant-communities of Silesia Park have reached a certain level of self-regulation and ecological stability.
