ABSTRACT
The basic role in spatial planning, including the establishment and maintenance of cemeteries, is played by the local government; hence, this chapter presents its legal essence. The municipality is presented as its basic unit. Attention is also drawn to the participation of public entities, private entities, public-private partnerships and funeral organizations in the process of planning cemeteries in Poland.
