ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the ways in which organizational characteristics of select traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation settings relate to the nature and quality of the rehabilitation services provided. Corporate appropriation of these functions occurs not only because of the aforementioned lack of trust which is commonplace in rapidly growing organizations, but also, in some cases, because of the failures of facility-based managers to properly discharge these responsibilities in a manner which considers both the needs of the client and the organization. The stated purpose of the corporate Marketing Associate is to enhance the awareness of prospective consumers and referral sources regarding the services provided by the organization. The stated purpose of the corporate Referral Coordinator is to support the facility in the facilitation and coordination of the admissions process. The stated purpose of the corporate Reimbursement Coordinator is to identify and resolve problems with payors, monitor facility receivables, and expedite collections.
