ABSTRACT
Observations are a key qualitative data collection tool to gather first-hand information by observing people and phenomena at a specific study site. It is one of the few methods that use the five senses of the observer to explore a phenomenon in the study field. This lesson guides students in developing an observation protocol and conducting an observation activity. Then, students will reflect on the data collection and methodological challenges of using observations.
