ABSTRACT
This chapter establishes field notes as an important methodological practice in social science research. By engaging students in a field notes activity, instructors will be able to explore key ethical concerns raised in the academic literature, including issues of positionality, researcher reflexivity, anonymity, consent, and the politics of representation.
