ABSTRACT
Intentional ethical engagement with communities is a vital yet underemphasized component of conducting good social science research. This lesson helps students delve into what such engagement means in practice by giving them a foundational understanding of the harms caused by social science research, allowing them to reflect on how their social identities can shape their scholarship, and encouraging them to grapple with the motivations and implications of their research.
