ABSTRACT
Many qualitative methods are unsuited to extracting data from younger children because they require specific social, cognitive, or language capacities. The use of visual-image–based materials is one solution. This lesson guides students to recruit and then collect drawings to use as data from one child (age 4–12), then reflects on the particular ethical, practical, and theoretical challenges of qualitative research with young children.
