ABSTRACT
The introduction to the book provides an overview of the content and approaches contained within it. The introduction underscores the fact that the book does not just describe sporting events that occurred during the pandemic but instead also provides normative guidance for the sporting world. In Part I, “To play or not to play…,” authors examine fraught issues surrounding decisions to continue or resume play during a pandemic. The chapters in Part II, “Sport Today and Tomorrow,” analyze transformations of the nature of sport during the pandemic and offer conjectures about the future of sport. A brief synopsis of each chapter of the book is provided. The introduction concludes by acknowledging the uncertainties the sporting world faces given the ongoing pandemic.
