ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the history of the annotated bibliography in higher education, emphasizing its use across disciplines. The chapter is informed by a comprehensive literature search, which is presented to the reader in the form of a lightly annotated bibliography. Sections in this chapter highlight the annotated bibliography’s penetration into higher education via the following categories: Manuals and Skill Books; Librarian and Instructor Collaboration; First-Year Writing and General Education Courses; Humanities and Social Sciences; Hard Sciences; Scaffolding; Student Learning and Assessment; and Online and Web.
