ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the five most commonly used annotation types in annotated bibliographies: descriptive, summative, evaluative, reflective, and combined. It offers teaching tips and sample annotated bibliography entries with citations and annotations in the MLA 9 style. It also includes a reproducible checklist outlining key features of each annotation type. The chapter concludes with a brief further reading section. Instructors, librarians, writing center consultants, and academic coaches wanting to review annotation form and function will find this chapter helpful.
