ABSTRACT

This chapter provides writing center staff and academic coaches tips for best supporting students who are writing annotated bibliographies. The chapter also includes advice for helping students throughout the writing process as they work on annotated bibliographies, including advice on writing introductions and conclusions. The chapter emphasizes helping students with annotated bibliography and citation format, organization, and composition. The chapter includes a simple annotated bibliography that models important formatting conventions and charts listing salient features/differences of MLA, APA, and Chicago style citations and research paper formats. The chapter also explains common problems students encounter when composing annotated bibliographies, including a distributable checklist of common annotation errors. The chapter ends with suggestions for further reading.
