ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses source types commonly used by students and includes tips for helping students annotate these sources. This is suitable for instructors, librarians, writing center consultants, and academic coaches. The chapter includes discussion of books and book chapters; academic journals; magazines; newspapers; encyclopedias; websites; blogs and podcasts; government reports; images and art; dissertations and theses; videogames; and literary works. For each source type, the chapter identifies common problems students have in working with these sources (and offers solutions to those problems as well).
