ABSTRACT
This essay focuses on the history and conceptualisation of love in classical philosophical and sociological thought. With a selection of authors and valuing the contribution of current scholars, love emerges as a key phenomenon, playing an important role in the sociality of not only interpersonal relationships but also political relationships and public life.
