ABSTRACT

The work is this chapter includes photographs of queer people of colour in the underground nightlife of Los Angeles. The images are inverted stylized photographs that make the subjects appear otherworldly. The photographer asks viewers to think about how fabulousness, or style, which is a form of protest in bodies, can help queer people uplift their emotional wellbeing while living in a culture that is misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic, and racist.
