ABSTRACT
The word “stress” is familiar to most of us. Although thousands of articles on stress appear in professional journals and popular magazines, the concept is still poorly understood by the public. From the 1970s onward, the proliferation of articles, seminars and material related to stress management reflects the growing interest in this problem. In fact, stress management has become top priority in companies, implying the creation of ever more workshops designed to help employees. Although stress is generally considered harmful, life without stimulation would be monotonous and boring; people would be missing out on the creative force which can be a source for motivation and the step prior to achieving goals. The word “stress”, like many other scientific terms, existed prior to its systematic use. The repercussions of stress have an impact on different biological systems, with their associated behavioural correlation.
