ABSTRACT

The Indian Premier League, the fourth most profitable but the fastest growing sports league in the world, that showcases young cricketing talent in India and abroad hosted by the BCCI, a multi-billion-dollar statutory board, was hit by COVID-19 like every other industry. The editors of Managing Complexity and COVID-19 virtually interviewed BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, for whom another English cricketing stalwart, Geoff Boycott, have given the epithet of “the Prince of Kolkata,” to hear his views on the impact of the pandemic on sports, on the aspirations of young athletes in the country where the main live entertainment outlet is to watch cricket. The most important thing that you want to take care of during the pandemic is health and safety. The bio-bubbles are made and kept under strict protocols. The players and organizers are kept away from contacting other people and outsiders.
