ABSTRACT

The financial services industry in India is undergoing a significant technological and digital transformation. The Indian financial system can achieve financial newness through innovative institutional strategies and processes. Fintech can also potentially help address India’s major financial inclusion challenges. Therefore, it is essential to recognize the role of fintech in supporting Indian financial institutions and improving financial inclusion through fintech opportunities. Covid-19 has affected millions of lives and livelihoods worldwide; therefore, it is important to assess the impact of a pandemic on the fintech ecosystem. This chapter attempts to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on innovative fintech in India. In meeting the objective, this study looks back on the emergence, growth, and development of innovative fintech, financial inclusion issues, and the impact of COVID-19 in India. It highlights some of the key areas from recent research trends and focuses on the professional expertise of the author. The policy recommendations for fintech’s future possibilities provide researchers, economists, policymakers, and financial experts with a better understanding of innovative finance and fintech in India.
