ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on the views of Ofsted and the success of St Nicholas’s Parent Council. It looks at practical ways to build a healthy communication mindset and positive relationships. The book explains the many different potential links between educational establishments and the way in which they communicate with each other. It identifies how to strengthen links, share personal experiences and identify ways in which successful collaboration can be achieved. The book explains some of the challenges that schools face with regards to barriers to collaboration. It describes the complexity behind why these barriers are there in the first place and the challenges that they can present to schools and families. The book reviews the key themes around parental collaboration, school initiatives, and relationships between schools and families.
