ABSTRACT
This chapter will look to identify the meaning, purpose and impact of establishing a Parent Council within an educational setting. The relationship between schools and families remains part of a consistent narrative within education – we understand its importance and continue to research new ways to achieve collaborative success. Whilst many schools would insist that they provide a variety of collaborative opportunities with their families, this chapter will push the boundaries in terms of what has been, and what could be. The successful establishment of a Parent Council can prove to have admirable results and this chapter will provide an insight into how other schools can establish their own successful Parent Council – learning from the experience of others on just how impactful the results can be.
