ABSTRACT
This chapter will look at the challenges schools face in respect of engaging with parents and families. Understanding, dissecting and working through the complex narrative of achieving successful collaborations, whilst recognising and identifying ways to overcome situations that can prove to be challenging, especially when you feel as though all avenues have been exhausted. The first response is often; How can we improve? Will we see measurable results that will impact the school? How can we manage this effectively? Why do we see the same challenges time and time again? Throughout this chapter, methods and reflections will identify barriers to successful collaborations, in addition to providing suggestions on ways to overcome them.
