ABSTRACT

Environmental communication is grounded in ethics of crisis and care. In this chapter, I reflect on the origins and responses to the COVID pandemic as a crisis, as well as environmental communication insights about care. To do so, I consider the stakes of recognizing our interconnection to other humans and the nonhuman world; the significance of breathing as a vital, intersectional act; and the value of storytelling moving forward, as we reconsider what is the good life.
