ABSTRACT

At a time when remote learning, remote work, and mediated communication seem more the norm than exception, what does it mean to communicate in an authentic manner? In this chapter, I will reflect on the ways in which communication can occur sincerely in distributed settings at the workplace and beyond. Specifically, I will draw on research in the areas of Technical, Health, Organizational, and Spiritual Communication to share ways that I have been able to strive for genuineness in my interactions with colleagues and loved ones, albeit at a distance.
