ABSTRACT

The main goal of this chapter is to define postcolonial studies and postcoloniality and describe the presence of postcolonial studies within the field of communication studies. Postcolonial studies examine the aftermath of colonization, oppressive political and economic structures, and the hybridization of sociocultural life as outcomes of colonial histories. Moreover, I discuss home and belonging, two of the key concepts for postcolonial studies and decoloniality. To describe these concepts, I use personal narratives as a method. Hence, I enact narratives that articulate the notion of home and belonging during the global pandemic we experienced.
