ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how Disability and Communication research can encourage us to embrace the mortality of our bodies in hopes to recreate a culture that adapts and “flexes” around all bodies for as long as they are here. In particular, I focus on how, how post-2020, the presence of Compulsory Able-Bodiedness and the possibilities for Hyper-Embodied Positioning are easily accessed across dominant cultural discourses and personal lived experience.
