ABSTRACT

The journey to find who I am in transnational contexts began with my identity exploration as a Korean immigrant living in the United States. The ongoing investigation of my cultural identity in relation to different social contexts has been an integral part of my life since the migration. This chapter presents my stories through visual images that I created to reflect the journey – something I have framed through Visual Storying. It narrates the introspection about my identity as a minority and foreigner and my search for a sense of belonging, and highlights the struggles and unique perspectives of Asians or Asian Americans. My story aims to create a space for individuals where they can learn about other people with different social and cultural backgrounds, and to raise awareness that our differences are actually sources for inspiration, creativity, knowledge, and dialogue.
