ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the evolution of megachurches as innovators, specifically the influence of a small collection of church leaders responsible for rapidly diffusing megachurch innovations across North America. Beginning in the early 1980s, these leaders capitalized on an emerging demand for practical leadership training to forge pastoral networks focused on identifying and diffusing critical church innovations. Intensely practical, these networks established a paradigm not only for megachurch innovations but also for their influence on church practice beyond traditional boundaries.
