ABSTRACT

Transcreation has opened new pathways both in Translation Studies and in the practice of translation, especially as it consists of a translation practice that reinforces the value of human translation (Katan, 2016). Five years ago, an innovative and successful training project was launched at the University Pablo de Olavide, in Seville (Spain) to train translators (at an undergraduate level) using the implementation of transcreation practices (Morón & Calvo, 2018; Morón & Lobato 2019). Using a descriptive approach, this chapter will present the rationale of the training initiative and its various goals and stages, and it will discuss the implications of incorporating transcreation, creativity and creative training in the education and training of translators, both in terms of student development and in translation teacher/researcher training. Creativity and creative translation processes serve as instruments to train translators, generating a positive dynamic cycle of interactions for those involved in the training process.
