ABSTRACT

This chapter is compiled from observations, notes and texts produced during writing workshops for young prisoners and school drop-outs. By taking this specific perspective upon failed attempts to educate available to the reader, the text highlights the importance of a transformative journey to be accomplished by pupils and former pupils to secure their later socially acceptable attempts to participate in their society. In doing so the chapter also develops a perspective upon the body as a means of conveying messages to the environment and towards the importance of being able to ‘read’ one’s own body.
