ABSTRACT
Many are curious about Halal status, especially as regards Halal food. Since Halal is always related to cleanliness, hygiene and safety, people now tend to purchase Halal food, although previously, the word Halal was significant only to Muslims. Many studies on Halal are often associated with Halal food production. In reality, Halal logistics management is greater than Halal food. Most previous studies only highlighted the framework of the Halal food process. Halal logistics is a complex process related to many other interrelated elements. Halal logistics is measured on the integrity of the complete supply chain (SC). Among the important aspects in Halal logistics management are Halal standards or procedures, Halal processes and certification. This study was conducted using qualitative methodology. An extensive literature review was obtained from the leading database and analysed using content analysis to develop Halal logistics management themes. A Halal logistics sustainability framework was developed using these themes by adopting integrity and technology as a monitoring tool for Halal compliance. This framework is crucial and can be used as a guideline to the researchers and the industry in Halal logistics management for effective implementation. This study fills the gap of inadequate understanding of Halal and the rising demand for Halal logistics management besides contributing to Halal logistics growing knowledge. Understanding Halal logistics can attract more people as a guideline; moreover, it can be adopted to benefit not only the Muslim society for religious demand.
