ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter considers the displacements, disruptions, and distress that COVID-19 has wrought on the global community. It introduces the book’s collection of essays written by people in or connected to academia, reflecting on our own experiences through ethnographies on ourselves to unpack and understand changing social conditions during the pandemic.
