ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part focuses on how the lives of transnational students and faculty were displaced and their strategies of coping and broadening understandings of family, community, and belonging. It examines the impact of COVID-19 on the author's personal and professional life in a transnational context. The part focuses on work, family, community, and life balance, and examines the author's role as a teacher, mother, family member, and active member of a transnational community situated in multiple locations. It discusses the uneven effects of the pandemic and health implications for disrupted lives of family and vulnerable minoritized communities. The part demonstrates resilience and engages in strategies of solidarity with and across geographical and social boundaries. It presents economic and social disparities in Norway and Iran and provides insight on the daily routine of transnational households experiencing displacement and isolation during the pandemic.
