ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on building, recognising and sustaining the relationships of SEND7, and then describes planning for the working with others well (WWOW) to happen. It shows how to notice when WWOW is happening and how to ensure it continues to happen. The SEND7 includes children and families, support staff, teaching staff, senior leadership team, those responsible for governance, external agencies including the local authority/local government, and the SENCO. Graeme J. Dobson and Graeme Douglas explored motivations of SENCOs undergoing the NASENCO training and they discovered that key motivations were around children and their experiences, and improving the self or settings. Work collaboratively with subject leads about how the strand of SEND teaching and learning looks in any training they are planning to deliver or source. A SENCO wanted all staff to utilise a piece of software for communication with children with additional needs.
