ABSTRACT

The present chapter describes a case study of a value-creating pedagogy approach in the context of university training in institutional translation. In particular, it focuses on a terminology collaboration between the National University of Córdoba (UNC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which involves students working on an innovative field of knowledge in relation to patents, extracting and documenting specialized terms, consulting with experts, and communicating with WIPO’s terminologists. This project and, by extension, this approach allows students to learn by applying their knowledge and competences to create records for the benefit of terminology users in general and for the WIPO in particular, and also works as a means to update the academic curriculum and bring it in line with institutional requirements.
