ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book deals with big heavy themes and follows the journey of HEIs through the past, present to future. It presents the issue of regionalism and bilateralism in the post-Brexit era and presents formal and informal responses to the shifting playing field of higher education. The book explores the nature of partnership and identity and looks at the nature of response and reaction. It also presents the reasons behind mergers, why people shy away from them, and the value they have for the future of higher education. The book reviews a German Jordanian case study and highlights issues of motivation, partnership and expected outcome, as means to explaining patterns in transnational education. It also looks at online learning models of delivery and the issue of mobility, and discusses ways in which universities can respond while supporting ongoing learning patterns.
