ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews literature on verbal and nonverbal communication in sports. It introduces a broad theoretical framework to help understanding and investigating communication processes in sports. A diverse body of literature is reviewed adopting a communication perspective. This literature review is divided into a verbal and nonverbal communication subsection and evidence-based recommendations are derived where possible. In conclusion, the chapter highlights that sports appears to be a highly interesting context for investigating communication in complex, everyday scenarios.
