ABSTRACT

This chapter studies the relationship of formal opportunities for knowledge sharing with the level of virtuality of research collaboration groups among Mexican researchers from the National Research System and how this relationship can impact the achievement of sustainable goals within the research projects based on one of the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Special Program for Science and Technology (PECiTI) objectives. Constructs were measured and analyzed through the quantitative method using the Virtual Index (VI) by Chudoba et al. (2005) and a construct proposed by us for calculating the Formal Opportunities for Knowledge Sharing (FOKS). Results show a positive correlation between variables meaning that the level of structure of the knowledge sharing process favors the performance of virtual research collaborations suggesting the achievement of the sustainable goals specific to the research project.
