ABSTRACT

Well-being promotion is of utmost importance in schools worldwide. However, most approaches are associated with providing students with knowledge about well-being and introducing additional interventions to enhance their well-being. In this chapter, we discuss an alternative to these add-on approaches, which are related to designing pedagogies for well-being. Firstly, we provide a theoretical background and rationale for doing this. We then introduce a new “Pedagogical Wellbeing Framework” which focuses teachers’ attention on the important aspects of tweaking their pedagogies to achieve results. Finally, we provide practical examples of how pedagogies for well-being could enrich teachers’ and students’ daily practice.
